What is Permaculture – benefits and applications
“Permaculture (permanent agriculture) is the conscious design and maintenance of agriculturally productive ecosystems which have the diversity, stability, and resilience of natural ecosystems. [...] Permaculture design is a system of assembling conceptual, material, and strategic components in a pattern which functions to benefit life in all its forms. [...] The philosophy behind permaculture is one of working with, rather than against, nature; of protracted and thoughtful observation rather than protracted and thoughtless action; of looking at systems in all their functions, rather than asking only one yield of them; and allowing systems to demonstrate their own evolutions.”

So many of the problems that face the Australian landscape and its inhabitants today – soil degradation, erosion, pollution, overgrazing, deforestation, drought, loss of nutritional value in food, etc – have come about by working against nature. This has proven to be very costly, not only monetarily, but also for the health of our environment and ourselves.
A Permaculture design aims at sustainability, environmentally as well as financially. We provide Permaculture consultation and design services for rural properties, urban properties, and villages. Whether you are interested in growing your own food, growing foodcrops commercially, rehabilitating your land, creating wildlife habitat, harvesting and storing water, solving erosion problems, enhancing soil biology, keeping livestock, growing timber, minimising fire risks, building or retrofitting a passive solar house, or all of the above and more, we can help you on your way to a healthy, furtile, sustainable, energy yielding system.
Our design services range from consultations, Computer Aided Design (CAD) plans, detailed species lists, detailed advice and notes on construction and implementation, to earthworks management, system implementation, maintenance and education.
This plan above represents some of the work that we do. It not all pretty pictures. This property and its owners are well on there way to a highly fertile, abundant landscape that over time will reduce in maintenance and provide for 95% of all there needs, returning an income and healthy lifestyle.
