Biological and Holistic
Equine Pasture Management -
Consultancy and Education.
| For horse owners who want to increase the health of their horses and their land, Global Land Repair offers a consultancy service in biological and holistic equine pasture management. We focus on creating biodiversity in pastures, building soil carbon, water holding capacity, forage systems, introduction of herbage and natural feed selection by the horse.
Our services include: - Full farm design; designing the horse farm and its infrastructure to supply equine needs, increase horse health and landscape biodiversity. - Compost and compost tea; education and consultation on composting methods and their benefits and uses, aimed at the composting of stable waste into a resource and possible income generator. - Farm hydrology; education and consultation on making farms drought proof, using swales on contour to slow down the water movement across the surface and draw it underground, instead of it be-coming a cause of erosion. We use a Yeoman’s keyline plow to deep rip on contour to increase soil carbon and water holding capacity, without disturbing the soil biology. - Tree systems & forage systems; education and consultation on planting trees and fodder plants along swales. This practice increases soil fertility, biodiversity and provides additional feed for the horses. Leaves and branches break down in the swales with the help of soil microbes and fungi and the nutrients are being dispersed evenly with the water into the soil and across the land. - Economy; education and consultation on decreasing dependency on high cost, high energy input equine farm practices, (feed, fertilisers, medication, supplements, waste disposal, etc.), and increasing horse health, soil health and the creative use of the farm’s available resources – giving you an edge on the horse market.
